How to be a baddie (the real version)
How to be a baddie in seven steps that actually change something. How you talk, how you move, your maintenance, your type, your clothes and your nerve.

ok so being a baddie is literally just deciding you're the hottest person in the room and acting like it lol. you don't have to BE the hottest. you just have to be delusional about it. that's the whole secret.
but since you're here, here's the long version. seven steps, in order, each with something to do today. most of them are free. all of them are cute.
first, what a baddie actually is
a baddie is someone who looks put together on purpose and acts like she belongs wherever she is. that's it. not a face shape, not a body, not a bank balance.
the look is the easy part, you can learn a lip combo in ten minutes. the part people miss is everything else: the walk, the text with no "sorry" in it, the "no" with no excuse. that's what makes people turn around.
want the whole history of the word? it's here. short version: it's a compliment and you want it 馃拝
step 1: fix how you talk
this is free and it's the fastest change people notice.
- stop apologising for existing. "sorry, quick question" is just "quick question". you're not sorry. you're busy and gorgeous. those aren't crimes.
- delete "just" and "i think". "i just wanted to check" becomes "checking!" and "i think we should go at 8" becomes "let's go at 8."
- say no without a reason. "can't make it, have fun" is a full sentence. nobody needs the story about your aunt.
- answer the question, then stop. over-explaining is the loudest insecurity there is.
Challenge
a whole day with no unnecessary sorry
every time you're about to say sorry for something that isn't your fault, swap it. "sorry i'm late" can stay. "sorry, quick question" becomes "quick question". you're not sorry, you're busy and gorgeous.
step 2: fix how you move
baddies don't rush. rushing reads as nervous, late or both.
walk like 20 percent slower than you do now. shoulders back and down, not up by your ears. chin level. look where you're going, not at your phone.
when you sit, sit back in the chair. when someone talks to you, look at them. when you walk into a room, pause for one second in the doorway before you look for your people. it feels unhinged the first time. it looks like you own the place.
Challenge
walk 20 percent slower
from the car to the door, through the store, across the office. slow down. shoulders back, chin level. rushing reads as nervous and you are not nervous.
step 3: put the maintenance on a schedule
the look isn't one big effort. it's little things on a calendar so you're never starting from zero.
| how often | what |
|---|---|
| every day | cleanser, moisturiser, SPF in the morning. brows brushed. lip balm. |
| every week | nails tidy or refilled. shoes wiped. outfits planned on sunday. makeup brushes washed. |
| every 2 to 3 weeks | gel or acrylic fill, brow tidy. |
| every 6 to 8 weeks | brow shape (wax or thread), lash lift if you get them. |
| every 8 to 12 weeks | hair trim, colour or gloss if you colour. |
put these in your phone right now. the girls who always look done aren't working harder than you, they just never let it get to a rescue mission.
step 4: pick your type on purpose
there isn't one way to be a baddie. there's clean girl, Y2K, soft, streetwear, old money, mob wife, alt and gym, and most of us are a main one with a little side of another.
picking one stops you buying random stuff that doesn't go together. you get a palette, a few signature pieces and a makeup direction, and suddenly getting dressed takes five minutes.
read the types, or take the quiz if you can't decide. answer how you actually live, not how you live in your head.
step 5: dress like you meant it
you don't need new clothes. you need the clothes you have to fit and go together.
- fit beats price. $30 jeans hemmed to your shoes look better than $200 ones dragging on the floor. a tailor is the closest thing to a cheat code i've ever found.
- steam everything. wrinkles make expensive clothes look cheap.
- clean shoes. people look at shoes. dirty white sneakers undo a whole outfit.
- one colour head to toe when you can't decide. all black, all cream, all brown. mix textures. instantly expensive.
- overdress a little for ordinary things. grocery store, coffee, the gym. act like it's normal, because it should be.
the full outfit formulas are here.
step 6: get out of your shell
you can have the face and the fit and still disappear in a room if you never say anything.
getting out of your shell doesn't mean being loud. it means talking to the person, asking for the thing, going to the event alone, and sending the text instead of drafting it for an hour. start small: compliment a stranger, call instead of texting, be IN the group photo instead of taking it.
when you're ready for the next level, read how to be flirty. it's a skill, not a personality.
step 7: keep score
ok real talk. you'll read this, nod, and do none of it. everyone does, it's not personal.
so keep score. the Baddie Meter is a free score out of 100: you pick your own challenges across attitude, glam, fit, social and flirt, do them, and tap "Did it". each category counts for 20, so the only way to 100 is all five. you can't be a baddie on lashes alone (i tried).
what a baddie doesn't do
- talk badly about other women to look better. it reads as threatened, because it is.
- chase. one text, then she waits.
- post for approval and delete it an hour later.
- make "i'm so ugly" jokes so someone will disagree.
- confuse rude with confident. rude is cheap. a baddie is polite AND unbothered.
FAQ
can anyone be a baddie?
yes. it's maintenance plus attitude, and you can learn both. it isn't a size, a skin colour, an age or an income. if someone told you otherwise, they were protecting their spot.
how long does it take to become a baddie?
the talking and walking stuff sticks in about a week. the maintenance schedule looks good in a month. the attitude, the part where you stop checking if you're allowed, takes about three months of just doing things.
do i need a lot of money?
no. most of these steps are free. the ones that cost money (a tailor, a brow shape, a decent liner) are cheaper than the random stuff you'd buy instead.
is being a baddie the same as being mean?
no. being a baddie means you don't apologise for taking up space. being mean means making other people smaller so you feel bigger. one is confidence and the other is literally the opposite.
